Hello from Susan Pate!

What Makes Me, Me: Hi!  I'm Susan. I live just outside of Birmingham, AL. I have two amazing young adult daughters. They've made me an empty-nester, but thankfully, they still live close enough for frequent visits.

I attended college at Samford University, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, which allowed me to serve in the field of pastoral counseling before deciding to stay home to be full-time mom.
Having spent my early childhood in Florida with a mom who loved nothing more than a day at Disney World, I fell in love with all things Disney at an early age.  I also learned the value of prioritizing quality time with the people you love most and making memories together.  So, when Christen offered me the opportunity to join the team at Classic Travel Connection to help others enjoy Disney vacations as much as I do and work with them to create those lifelong memories, it was an immediate yes.  And almost 15 years later, it still brings me such joy to know I play a small role in so many magical memories.

Aside from necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without? Exercise - usually either an early morning walk in my neighborhood or a few minutes of yoga.  Also, word games - Wordle, Connections, crosswords - they are exercise for my brain and a nice little confidence boost every morning.

In My Spare Time: My very favorite thing to do is spend time with my family.  Whether it's chit chat on the couch, dinner out, games around the table, or vacation time...being with my people is my favorite way to spend any spare time I have.  But I also love a challenging puzzle, a good hike, and trying out a new recipe.

What is your favorite season and why? Fall - the crispness in the air, sweaters and boots, pumpkin bread, the holidays are coming - all things that are cozy and comforting.

Me in Three Words, As Described by my friends: Caring, supportive, strong

My Favorite Travel Hack: Live in the moment.  We easily stress over the details of planning, fear missing out on "must-dos," or worry about what's waiting back home when we return.  Don't let any of that steal the joy of making memories with the people you love the most and allow yourself to truly savor every experience while you're traveling.

What is a skill that nobody would suspect you have? I spent about 10 years as a fast-pitch softball pitcher.  I'm not sure how great my pitching arm is these days, but I can still play a pretty solid game of skee-ball!

What movie could you quote by heart? I'm an 80s girl - Grease, Dirty Dancing, Top Gun
